Post your fixture for referee cover

Post your fixture directly on RefSorted with the date, kick-off time, venue, age group, format, referee requirements and match fee. Referees find suitable matches and apply. Your team reviews applications and confirms the referee. Posting a fixture does not guarantee referee cover.

Post the full fixture brief

Set the date and kick-off time, the venue, the age group and format, the referee requirement shown on the listing, and the match fee you choose. Keep the posting accurate and update it if anything changes, because referees decide whether to apply from the details you publish.

Team-posted grassroots fixtures can include Sunday league, Saturday league and youth football. Before confirming a referee, your organisation must check the competition's appointment and eligibility rules, including any safeguarding requirements.

Date and venue

When and where

Fixture date, kick-off time and venue, so referees can judge availability and travel before applying.

Match details

Age group and format

Age group and format, such as 11v11 or 7v7, so the fixture reaches referees looking for that football.

Requirement and fee

Level and match fee

The displayed referee requirement and the fee you set. Each posting team sets its own fee for its fixture.

Review applications with context

Applications for your fixture appear in one place with the referee details you need for an informed decision, including the status wording "FA evidence uploaded" where the referee has supplied current-season FA evidence. That status means evidence was uploaded by the referee. It is not independently authenticated or guaranteed by RefSorted, so your organisation remains responsible for checking the evidence and the referee's suitability before confirming.

Youth fixtures always need your approval: no application confirms automatically. An application does not reserve the fixture, and contact details are not shared at this stage.

Check the date, kick-off time, venue, age group, format, fee and eligibility details on your own posting before you confirm anyone.

From posting to confirmed appointment

  1. Post the brief

Publish the fixture once with the full brief. Eligible referees can then find it and apply.

  2. Review and confirm

Compare applications, check the FA evidence each applicant supplied, and confirm the referee you want. Nothing is booked until you confirm.

  3. Arrange the match directly

Once you confirm, match-contact details are shared with the participants in that booking only, so both sides can arrange the match directly.

See how referees find fixtures and apply so your brief includes the details they need.

Invite referees with a fixture link

If you already know suitable referees, you can share your fixture link with them as an optional extra. The link lets them view the fixture and apply in RefSorted. Applications stay in RefSorted, and contact details are shared only after you confirm an appointment. Sharing a link does not promise applications or cover.

Anyone with the link can view the fixture details shown, so share it only with referees you are happy to hear from.

If your match is still without a referee

Use our organiser checklist for a match needing referee cover to work through competition rules, a clear fixture brief and confirmation.

Match fees are settled directly

Each posting team sets its own match fee. You and the referee arrange and settle the stated fee directly outside RefSorted. During the current pilot, RefSorted charges a £0 platform fee. RefSorted does not collect, hold, escrow, process or guarantee match-fee payments.

Fixtures and features can change during the pilot. RefSorted does not guarantee applications, suitability, cover, attendance or payment.
