How it works

From fixture brief to confirmed appointment

RefSorted is a football referee marketplace. Teams post fixtures directly on RefSorted, referees find suitable matches and apply, and teams review applications and confirm a referee. Confirmed participants receive match-contact details to arrange the match directly.

For teams: post the brief and confirm

Put the kick-off time, venue, age group, format, referee requirements and match fee in one clear fixture brief, then review applications from referees and confirm the appointment.

  1. Post the fixture brief

Set the date, kick-off time, venue, age group, format, referee requirements and the match fee for the fixture.

  2. Review applications

Compare applications beside the details each referee supplied, including any FA evidence uploaded with the application.

  3. Confirm and arrange the match

Confirm the referee for the fixture. The confirmed team and referee receive contact details and arrange the match directly.

For referees: find fixtures that fit and apply

Choose your availability and travel radius, then browse fixtures that fit those choices with the displayed referee requirements beside each fixture.

  1. Set availability and radius

Keep your available days and times and your travel radius current so the fixtures you see stay relevant.

  2. Read each fixture brief

Check the date, kick-off time, venue, age group, format, fee and displayed referee requirements before you apply.

  3. Apply and wait for confirmation

Send an application for the fixtures that suit you. The posting team reviews applications and confirms the referee.

Applying is not a booking or confirmation. An application does not reserve the fixture and does not release contact details.

Confirmation and youth fixtures

Contact details are shared only after a booking is confirmed, and only with the participants in that booking. The confirmed team and referee then confirm final instructions and arrange the match directly.

Youth fixtures always require organiser approval: the posting team must review and approve every application before a booking is confirmed.

Application

Applying is not confirmation

An application puts you forward for the fixture. The team decides whether to confirm the appointment.

Youth fixtures

Organiser approval always applies

Every youth application needs review and approval by the posting team before it can become a booking.

Confirmed booking

Contact details change hands

Once confirmed, both participants receive the match-contact details and organise the fixture between themselves.

FA evidence comes from the referee

Where an application includes FA evidence uploaded by the referee, treat it as user-supplied evidence. RefSorted does not independently authenticate it and does not present it as a RefSorted check or assurance. Organisers remain responsible for checking it and deciding whether the referee suits the fixture.

Match fees are settled directly

Each posting team sets its own match fee. Teams pay referees directly outside RefSorted. RefSorted charges a £0 platform fee during the current pilot and does not collect, hold, escrow, process, or guarantee fees or payment.
