Club contacts
Ask clubs you know
A club may know about friendlies, youth matches or gaps in its regular cover. Ask who arranges officials, what competition rules apply and whether the match suits your current status.
Referee Hub · Finding matches
There is no single route to every local football match. Clubs, leagues, County FAs and team-posted marketplaces all create opportunities, but they work differently. Start with the route that fits your experience, the football you are eligible to referee and the time you can offer.

League appointments
Leagues may allocate referees through an appointments secretary or their own system. Tell them your availability, travel area, age-group experience and any dates already committed elsewhere.
County FA
Your County FA can point you towards suitable clubs, leagues and development opportunities. Sheffield & Hallamshire FA publishes a local guide to finding fixtures, including contacts for several types of football.
Team-posted fixtures
On RefSorted, teams post their own fixture briefs. Referees browse suitable listings and apply; the team reviews applications and confirms one referee. Listings depend on what teams post.
Whichever route you use, confirm the kick-off and expected finish, venue and travel time, age group and format, competition, referee requirements and match fee. Ask who will confirm the appointment and how changes or cancellations will be communicated. A conversation, expression of interest or application is not necessarily a confirmed match.
If you have recently completed the FA Referee Course and are working towards qualifying games, check your County FA's current rules on which matches count and how to record them. A listing's existence does not make it suitable or count towards qualification. RefSorted's current listings require referee Levels 4–7, so they are not a Level T trainee route. Read our first five qualifying games guide and Sheffield & Hallamshire FA's official guidance.
RefSorted is a football referee marketplace. It does not import appointments from your league or County FA. Teams post fixtures directly with date, kick-off, venue, age group, format, requirements and fee. You set availability and travel radius, review the listing and apply if it fits. The posting team decides whether to confirm you.
